Ginger · diced, fructose and honey

Ginger: choose yours.

The short answer: ginger is the rhizome of a plant, a fleshy root that is hot and warms slowly. Born sells it in three versions and none is sugar free: dice in cane syrup, pieces with fructose and ginger with honey in nine flavours (lemon, turmeric, cinnamon...). Eat it as it is, in hot water or chopped into cooking. Born does not attribute effects to ginger.

What it tastes like

It starts earthy and ends with a slow warmth.

What ginger is. It is the rhizome of a plant, a fleshy root and not a fruit. Fresh, it is fibrous and very hot; in these bags it comes in pieces and semi-dried, with a sweet coating that softens the heat without hiding it.

It contains cane sugar, fructose or honey. Depending on the version. The dice contain cane sugar (76 g of sugars per 100 g), the pieces contain fructose and the honey ones contain honey and a cane syrup coating. None is sold as sugar-free ginger.

Turmeric, lemon and more. The honey line has nine flavours: the original, lemon, turmeric, cinnamon, cocoa, coconut, strawberry, matcha and paprika. The full detail is on the ginger with honey page; the candied diced ginger page explains how the dice are made.

How to eat it

How to choose by what for.

After a meal

Two or three dice in cane syrup, like a hot sweet. The pieces with fructose are less hot.

As an infusion

A few pieces of ginger with honey and lemon in hot water: the ginger, lemon and honey infusion. With turmeric it comes out golden.

In the kitchen

The dice, chopped at the end of a stir-fry or grated over a soup. They already bring sugar, so you need no more.

As a gift

The pack with six flavours of ginger with honey, so whoever gets it can taste and choose.

Frequently asked questions

What people usually ask.

What is ginger for?+

Born does not attribute properties or effects to any ginger, and there is no authorised claim we could cite. What we do say is what it is, what it tastes like and how it is used: a hot root, eaten after a meal, in hot water or chopped into cooking.

Is there sugar-free ginger?+

Not among Born's. The dice contain cane sugar, the pieces contain fructose and the honey ones contain honey and cane syrup. Reading the pack is the only thing that counts.

Does ginger contain fructose?+

Born's ginger pieces with fructose do, in their sweet coating. The dice contain cane sugar and the honey ones contain honey. If you avoid fructose, read the pack and check with your doctor.

Is ginger a plant or a fruit?+

It is a plant: what you eat is its rhizome, a fleshy root. It is sold next to semi-dried fruit because it is eaten as a sweet.

How do you make a ginger, lemon and honey infusion?+

Put a few pieces of ginger with honey and lemon in hot water and wait for them to dissolve. There are no fixed times or amounts: to taste. With turmeric, ginger and honey it comes out golden and stains.

Which should I pick the first time?+

If you want little heat, the original honey one. If you want the driest taste for cooking, the dice. If in doubt, the honey pack has several flavours.

Limit

It is sugared ginger or ginger with honey and it is hot: a few pieces are better than a handful.
