Ginger with honey, with cane syrup or with fructose: what each one contains

Bolsa de jengibre con miel de Born, 250 g

The short answer

Born's ginger with honey contains ginger and honey. The cubes contain ginger and cane sugar, with no honey or fructose. The pieces with fructose contain ginger and fructose. They are three resealable 250 g bags, they are stored without a fridge and each product page lists its ingredients. If you do not know which one to start with, the honey one is the base of the line: then you try the lemon, cinnamon or cocoa variants.

What each one contains

ProductIngredientsTasteFormat
Ginger with honeyGinger and honeyThe heat of ginger, softened by the clean sweetness of honeyResealable 250 g bag
Ginger cubes with cane syrupGinger 57%, cane sugar 43%Starts earthy and ends with a slow warmthResealable 250 g bag
Ginger pieces with fructoseGinger and fructoseThe warmth of ginger, with a sweet layer on topResealable 250 g bag

In the honey and fructose ones, the ginger is made with a coating of cane sugar syrup. The cubes are dried after being dipped in that syrup. All three contain a sweetener besides the ginger: honey, cane sugar or fructose. That is why none of them is presented as a single-ingredient fruit.

Which one is hotter

The cubes are the hottest of the three and come without honey. The pieces with fructose are milder than the cubes: fructose softens the heat without removing it. If you want something gentler still, look at the honey and coconut or honey and strawberry variants, below.

How to eat the ginger cubes with cane syrup

  • Two or three cubes after a meal.
  • In a cup of hot water.
  • Chopped into stir-fries and dressings.
  • Grated over a vegetable cream soup.

The pieces with fructose also go chopped into cookies or cakes and onto a board of cured cheeses. The honey ones, on their own between meals or in hot water.

Other ginger with honey options

The line has versions with a second ingredient, all in 250 g bags:

  • With coconut: the mildest of the honey gingers.
  • With strawberry: mild heat and a good way in.
  • With lemon: a few pieces in hot water make an infusion of ginger, honey and lemon.
  • With cinnamon: tastes like winter and goes well with a coffee or over porridge.
  • With cocoa: first the heat, then the honey and finally a cocoa background. It contains cocoa, not chocolate.
  • With turmeric: earthy and golden. Turmeric stains yellow: careful with light clothes.
  • With paprika: the one with the most character, with double heat.

They are all in the pantry gingers collection.
