Soft dried apple, pear, peach, banana and cherries: which one to pick

Bolsitas de cerezas negras semideshidratadas de Born

The short answer

Pick by what you will eat it with: apple or banana for snacking by the handful, pear or cherries for a cheese board and peach for dessert or baking. All come in a resealable 250 g bag and only the black cherries also have a pack of 6 snack bags of 40 g. They keep for up to 12 months with the pack closed, no fridge needed, according to their product pages. The apple, the pear and the peach contain the preservative SO2 (sulphites), while the banana and the cherries have a single ingredient.

Apple: how to eat it

It has a slight crunch outside and a soft sweetness inside. It does not darken in the backpack or stain the bag. The apple slices go in a bowl in the kitchen or the office, with peanut butter or sprinkled with cinnamon. In pieces, the 250 g bag works for porridge with cinnamon or for the school lunch box.

Pear: how to eat it

It has a soft sweetness, a floral aroma and a buttery, almost creamy texture. It goes with everything. The pear pieces go with blue cheese, in salads with walnuts or over porridge. In halves it looks better: on its own, sliced over salads or on a cheese board.

Peach: how to eat it

It is sweet, aromatic and buttery, with the taste of the classic peach in syrup but without the syrup. The peach halves are eaten as a dessert, one half at a time, or with cottage cheese or fresh cheese in the hollow. In pieces it goes chopped into yogurt or porridge and into cakes and doughs.

Banana: how to eat it

It is tender, not crunchy, with a deep sweetness almost like caramel. It is not the fried banana chip: it is soft dried, with no oil. Eat it by the handful, chopped into porridge or pancakes, in a homemade mix with dark chocolate and nuts or as strips dipped in melted dark chocolate. You will find it in the bulk collection, in pieces and in strips.

Cherries: black and golden

The black cherry is intense, with a tart note and a long finish. It goes with aged cheese, over porridge or yogurt, on an appetizer board or as an afternoon break. The golden cherry is softer and less tart, with a golden tone. The black one also comes in a 250 g bag. According to the pack, the pits are removed before drying.
